【Introduction】:On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new cases of confirmed infections.

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 42 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 706 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 1,958 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,884 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 74 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 83,581 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 78,590 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 357 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 765,344 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 3,840 were still under medical observation.

On July 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new asymptomatic cases (including 5 imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on July 8, 112 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 79 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 8, 1,818 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,323 in Hong Kong (7 had died and 1,167 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (45 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 449 in Taiwan (7 had died and 438 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
