Sept 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Henan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 439 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation.

The number of serious cases remained unchanged. As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,730 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,562 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 168 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,279 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,477 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 168 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 826,677 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,684 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 21 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 382 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 381 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 19, 5,561 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,009 in Hong Kong (103 had died and 4,708 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 506 in Taiwan (7 had died and 479 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
