Travelling around London will become easier for visitors after Transport for London’s creation of a series of new ‘top travel tips’ films to help customers get the most out of the city this summer.
London is one of the top visitor destinations in the world, with more than 30 million people visiting the Capital last year – breaking the previous record set in 2014.
The new short films help visitors understand ticket options and navigate the transport network.
The films, which can be viewed with subtitles in English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Dutch, give the following advice for those visiting London:
Travel around London easily with a Visitor Oyster card. Touch in and out on the yellow card readers. How to move around a station. Try out some of the different ways to travel, such as Santander Cycles, river services or Emirates Air Line. The busiest times on the network.
For the majority of visitors, the most convenient and flexible way to travel is by pay as you go using a Visitor Oyster card or a contactless payment card.
Customers can simply touch in and out on the yellow card readers at a station, or touch in only on a bus or at a tram stop.
Visitor Oyster cards can be purchased online or from a travel agent ahead of a trip to London.
This avoids customers having to queue to purchase a ticket on arrival, saving them time.
Visitor Oyster card customers can also save money with special offers and discounts at restaurants, shops, galleries and entertainment venues.
Chris MacLeod, director of marketing at TfL, said: “London is a great place to visit, and these fun and accessible films will help visitors get the most out of their time in the city.”
“We’re committed to improving the experience of travelling through London and hope these films will help visitors from the UK and overseas to find the best ways to save time and money.”
