【Introduction】:The OSIRIA Tourism Complex, where the IKEA East Busan Branch is located, is one of the city’s representative tourist attractions in Busan with over 8 million annual visitors.
The city of Busan has announced that the global furniture retailer, IKEA Korea (CEO, Fredrik Johansson) opened the IKEA East Busan Branch in the OSIRIA Tourism Complex, Gijang-gun on February 13, 2020.
The OSIRIA Tourism Complex, where the IKEA East Busan Branch is located, is one of the city’s representative tourist attractions in Busan with over 8 million annual visitors. It is expected to be the largest tourist complex in the country when its development is fully completed. The site will include the OSIRIA theme park (Lotte World Adventure Busan) and a lagoon type aquarium.
Busan Metropolitan City and IKEA Korea made an agreement to establish a local branch in Busan in February 2017. The following main contents of the agreement have been fulfilled:
IKEA established a local branch in Busan and opened its store in the OSIRIA Tourist Complex
Utilized Busan Bank as its financial transaction partner
Hired 465 local citizens
Provided an opportunity to local companies for local procurement and outsourcing and sought ways to build win-win cooperation with Busan’s commercial and industrial sectors
The city will continuously monitor the on-going cooperation between IKEA Korea and local companies to create quality jobs and re-vitalize the local economy.
The Swedish-based global home furniture company IKEA, established in 1943, operates 433 stores across 52 countries worldwide with about 211,000 employees. There are two branches in Gwangmyeong and Goyang in Korea.
