There couldn’t be a better time to sign up with several great events planned by the zoo for the month ahead!
In celebration of World Book Day, Belfast Zoo is bringing favourite stories to life with interactive book reading sessions on Saturday 7 March between 11am – 12.30pm. In the unique story telling workshops, visitors can watch the animals from the books come to life and meet some of the characters.
On Sunday 15 March, there will be a snake “meet and greet” in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Visitors are invited to get up close and personal with the zoo’s three royal python snakes, Susie, Sasha and Linus. George the bearded dragon and Sanchez the leopard gecko will also be making an appearance.
Mother’s Day is also just round the corner on Sunday 22 March and a family trip to the zoo is the perfect way to say thank you to that special someone. Visitors can enjoy a stroll around the 55 acre Cave Hill site and grab the perfect chance to see new mum Surali and her first baby bongo Jumapili born at the beginning of this year!
Visitors can enjoy refreshments in the Lion’s Den restaurant, under new management from Ability Café, where all ‘mum’s’ can receive a free hot drink and tray bake, while kids can colour in.
The zoo will also be holding ‘Extinction in Focus’ workshops as part of the Belfast Festival of Learning 2020 on 25 and 26 March. The workshops, which are aimed at older people, will highlight wildlife conservation and native species at Belfast Zoo.
Alyn Cairns, Belfast Zoo Manager, said, “March is one of our favourite months of the year as the days start to get longer, babies start to arrive and people look forward to the lovely warmer weather ahead in the summer months. March is a busy month for us and we look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces come through the doors throughout the month!”
