Belo Horizonte Central Area — the Heart of the City

In the central region of Belo Horizonte, there are some architectural treasures from the beginning of the city, such as the Liberty Palace, former headquarter of State Government. In 2010, the historic buildings of the Secretaries of State became part of the Circuito Liberdade, around Liberty Square, considered the largest cultural circuit in Brazil. Plural venue, connects people and promotes interaction with historical and artistic collections, museums, cultural centers, library, planetarium, spaces for workshops, coffee shops, restaurants and shops.

Afonso Pena Avenue is one of the symbols of the capital of Minas Gerais and interconnects natural and cultural attractions. Crafts are another highlight. The richness and originality of the pieces can be seen at the Centro de Artesanato Mineiro (handcraft center) and the Feira de Artesanato da Afonso Pena, the largest art and crafts open air fair in Latin America.
