Pihlajasaari is located on Pihlajasaari Island, only 10 minutes by boat from Kaivopuisto. The island is one of the most popular summer oases. The fully-licenced café-restaurant of the island has served customers for over 80 years in an 120-year-old wooden villa called Villa Hällebo. Restaurant Pihlajasaari has 190 seats, 90 of which inside the villa and the rest on two outside terraces. There is an excellent view of the open sea from the front terrace situated on natural rock whereas from the smaller terrace there is a nice view of Helsinki. The restaurant provides Finnish specialities, e.g. smoked salmon from the own smokery and home-made doughnuts. Private occasions can be arranged on request. The connection ferry to Pihlajasaari leaves from Merisatamanranta behind Cafe Carusel and also from Ruoholahti. On the island there is a boat harbour for those who come with their own boat.
