Barcelona never sleeps. The city has set the benchmark for the international electronic music scene and dances to the sounds of the world's top DJs. It's also the perfect place for lovers of jazz, rock, Latin rhythms and pop.

Gràcia

The hidden corners and squares of Gràcia continue to offer intimate and charming bars and restaurants which turn the neighbourhood's night-time attractions into a box of surprises. All you have to do is lose yourself in its narrow streets and enjoy the bohemian atmosphere that the locals love so much. In summer, Gràcia's squares are filled with pavement cafés, and in August the neighbourhood's festival puts it firmly in the spotlight. In recent years, Gràcia has become a multicultural melting pot, meaning that it offers a varied and exotic range of cuisine.

Eixample

Locals who are young, and not so young, pack the streets of the Eixample during the long weekends in the city. Clubs, bars and discotheques playing contemporary sounds and classic hits, and restaurants serving all kinds of cuisine welcome students, stag and hen nights and groups of friends of all ages who party all night until they drop.

Gaixample

The left side of the Eixample, bordered by the Carrer Balmes, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Carrer Urgell and Carrer Aragó, is home to most of the venues frequented by the gay and lesbian community, hence the name Gaixample. The area is packed with restaurants offering live entertainment, bars and discotheques where freedom and coexistence are the true stars of the show.

Raval

This is the city's most international and eclectic district. As you walk through its streets you'll breathe in the aromas of other cultures. At night-time, the Raval provides the opportunity to sample exotic cuisine and local dishes. An example of multiculturalism where the cultural offering, and nightspots, coexist with small and varied venues in the narrow streets which are buzzing with activity. Some bohemian bars and cafés retain the atmosphere of a bygone age and remain some of the most popular places on Barcelona's night-time scene.

Barri Gòtic

The narrow streets in the old town come to life at night around the Plaça Reial, a hotspot for music venues, clubs and bars catering to all tastes. Traditional tea lounges and beer houses rub shoulders with design restaurants, intimate bars and fashionable venues in the heart of the city. This area is home to some of the city's longest-established jazz bars and classic indie-music venues.

Barrie Born

This lively neighbourhood is a magnet for hipsters, design aficionados and for anyone in search of restaurants, nightclubs and cocktail bars with a chic but friendly atmosphere. Trend spotters will enjoy the eclectic mix of people: bohos, night owls, locals who have just left the office, people of all nationalities… a scene which is always full of surprises, among narrow streets and medieval squares, which are the perfect place to have dinner or an early drink.

Port Vell

Shops, bars, restaurants and loads of fun on this large open-air terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. The old harbour, or Port Vell, with the Maremagnum at its centre, is one of the most popular places with visitors and locals who are looking for the convenience of everything in one area. In summer, its terraces are the star attraction, while in winter people continue to enjoy the sea from the spacious bars and restaurants with their superb views.

Port Olímpic

The Mediterranean is the focus of one of the city's busiest leisure and entertainment hotspots. The twin towers mark the gateway to a whole host of bars, restaurants, discotheques and even a casino. A sophisticated, party atmosphere by the sea where you can enjoy the night to the full.

Poble Nou

Indie rock and the latest pop make a date at weekends in the Poble Nou district. Large discotheques and spacious bars, the result of the district's industrial past, offer a wide range of alternative rock music which particularly appeals to young people.
