Allen Jones RA at Royal Academy |
Overview
The work of celebrated artist Allen Jones RA is the subject of an exhibition at the Royal Academy.
The artist’s highly regarded reputation was established while he was a student at the Royal Academy of Arts during the 1960s as part of a generation of renowned Pop artists. Jones has since gone on to forge a brilliant career that has spanned four decades.
Remaining true to his depiction of popular culture, a great deal of his imagery has been drawn from both advertising and performance. This exhibition looks at his entire career, featuring prints, paintings and some of the iconic figurative sculptures that he has produced from the ‘60s to the present day.
Looking to highlight the constant use of drawing in his work, this exhibition demonstrates his talents as a draughtsman; something that is sometimes obscured in the finished works.
