Introduction
Particularly worth recommending for your first dip into the world of classical music are the almost daily performances by Vienna’s concert series organisers. The orchestras are made up of excellent musicians (some from the ranks of the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna Symphonic) and offer delights for the ear and eye, with some orchestras appearing in historical costumes. On the program are at least pieces by the king of the waltz Johann Strauß as well as excerpts from Mozart's operas and other well-known works of the Viennese classical era. Ballet dancers and vocal soloists often give interludes. The performance venues are amongst the finest anywhere in Vienna: from the Vienna State Opera, to Schönbrunn and the Imperial Palace, to the venerable Palais.
