Jingdong Grand Canyon has a wonderful natural landscape where it contains lakes, rivers and valleys. It is a great destination for tourists who like to travel in spring and summer.

Among the mountains of Jingdong Grand Canyon, some of them are sharp as the swords and some are lying on the earth like a green screen. The water there is as clean as the cloture of the silver flowing from the valley and forming the lakes. The Five Ponds are located among the valleys like five mirrors and are called the Wonder of Eastern Beijing.

The recreational items are so risky and exciting that people can never forget them at all. In the valley are thousands of acres of pine forest, the quiet gardens, the thatched cottages, and various hammocks provided for the tourists to enjoy the sunshine in the forest and to have a rest. In the water amusing park, which is also called the Dragon Lake, the motor yachts are provided for entertainment. The bank of the river is 30 meters high and the water is 30 meters deep.

There is an automatic upper airspace cableway with a length of 268 meters and 22 meters’ high drop. The speed of the sliding lock there is 48 kilometers per hour. Between the Five Ponds and Jing Tai Mountain with the altitude of 800 meters, the upper airspace cableway is with the length of 1,000 meters, 41 meters’ high drop. The speed of the sliding lock is 1.25 meters per minute which takes about 13 minutes to complete the whole journey. What’s more, the world’s longest slide rail, the Century Dragon, whose length is 4,108 meters and head drop 378 meters, is erected between the mountaintop Jing Tai and the Dragon Door Lake.

The Pond of Five Dragons

The naturally formed five ponds are distinctive with their own features. The first one is called the Fright Pond because both sides of the valley are cliffs where tourists can only walk on the wooden walkway built which makes people feel scared. The second one is called the Pond of Danger, where the wooden walkway is built on the high cliffs facing the deep abyss below, also being dangerous. The third pond is called the Strange Pond since the water and the waterfall keep the tourists from going across, like coming to a hopeless situation. However, when you crawl to the mountainside, faced with the broad and wonderful scenery, you will feel so confident as if life is full of hope. The fourth one is called the Quick Pond for the reason that there’s no water in the lake, in which the water will flow away immediately. The last one is called the Pond of Sonorous Water which is famous for its sound made by the waterfall when it falls into the lake.

Valley to the Sky

Valley to the Sky is like a mountain as high as the sky being shocked into a long narrow crevice. Looking from a far place, covered by the moss, grasses and the bush at both sides, both sides of the crevice seem linked. But, when going closer, you will find that the even the narrowest place is not less than one meter in width. During the Anti-Japanese War period, the arms supplies were produced here and there is a relic of a small munitions factory nearby.

The Wooden Walkways

The Big Valley of Eastern Beijing is famous for the Five Ponds. However, the wooden walkways crossing four of them also have their own characters and become another wonder of the big valley. The first two of them are built against the cliffs like two dragons lying on the cliffs. The wooden walkways crossing the four ponds are linked by ten steel ropes. They crawl against the cliffs up to the mountaintop and go across the ponds like the rainbow. When you walk on the wooden walkways, they will shake heavily, quite dangerous and exciting.
