Highlights: Characterized by the river floodplain wetlands, estuary lakes and marshes, Sparse woods grassland and Wetland meadow, Sun Island Wetland scenic area shows up as Archipelago when the water level is high, and shows up as island, peninsula when the water level is low. As the period of low water level lasts, this area shows a geomorphic feature as river floodplain, marshes, gentle slope, etc., which is a rare landscape even in China. This wetland is the only and biggest river floodplain, marshes locates in urban area, the total area covers 10.6 square kilometers, mainly located at the northern-west part of Sun Island.

Abundant landscape resources gathered here, there are more than 25 families and 600 species of wild vegetation, and 300 species of regular vegetation. In the meanwhile, more than 20 species of precious northern trees and shrubs have been introduced and cultivated, such as Ginkgo, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, NingJin maple, Magnolia sieboldii, and Spiraea trichocarpa, and 16 species of perennial flowers. Cuntai grass covers the sandy meadow soil, swamp meadow covers low-lying land. Sedge Tatou and swamp are the unique landscape on the island. Abundant aquatic vegetation located within the water bubbles, shrub willow on the half slop is the best vegetation survival. Broad waters neutralized all the vegetation and Sedge Tatou have survived for hundreds of years. Hundreds of birds take here as their homeland, and tens of birds species such as wild ducks, Yuanyang, cranes, are rare bird.
