Precautions for Seafood Meals

Take some white wine and vinegar together with seafood. However, do not drink beer when eating seafood because excessive uric acids may be created and cause gouts. Do not eat seafood with certain fruit, like grapes, guavas, haws, persimmons, etc. Otherwise, you may feel uncomfortable or even vomit, get dizzy and have nausea, bellyache and diarrhea. Wait for 2 hours before you eat such fruit following seafood.

Do not drink cold drinks or eat water melon within 1 hour after eating seafood. Don’t go swimming immediately after eating seafood. Seafood has a high content of protein and those who are allergic to protein should eat with caution (this is the source of seafood poisoning). People who suffer from arthritis should eat less seafood because sea cucumbers, turtles, kelps, edible seaweeds and other seafood contains uric acids that easily crystallize in your bone joints after absorption and worsen arthritis.

Seafood is not recommended for people suffering from hyperthyroidism and gouts. Sea fish livers are not recommended because they contain a very high content of Vitamin A. Excessive intake of vitamin A and vitamin D may cause poisoning of the liver. They may cause symptoms similar to those of hepatitis. Children and youths should be especially cautious in this regard.
