Setting the benchmark for the finest and freshest of New Zealand’s music, dining, service, drink design and culture, Matterhorn gives it to you seven ways in seven days, indoors, outdoors, fireside; it is a regular's restaurant, cocktail bar and tapas bar, where attitude is most certainly valued over attire.

The Matterhorn team is proud to have the talents of James Pask as Head Chef. James has spent the past years at such places like Awaroa Lodge in Able Tasman, Shed 5 on Wellington's Waterfront and Clooney Restaurant in Auckland.

James has significant experience abroad, including stints at renowned Club Gascon, a Michelin-starred French restaurant in the heart of London, and at Michelin Bib Gourmand rated restaurant Terre à Terre in Brighton, UK.

James works to continue the long standing Matterhorn tradition of fresh and unpretentious menus, that showcase the best of the region's seasonal and artisan produce in a truly original fashion. As always our menus are complemented by an extensive pioneering wine list traversing old and new world styles and one of the most comprehensive selections of spirits and original cocktails in the world.

Matterhorn is officially the 33rd best bar in 'Asia-Pacific', according to the annual survey released by Australian Bartender magazine. Winners of the Supreme Award and Best Casual Dining - Metropolitan, at the Cuisine NZ Restaurant of the Year 2008 Awards.

And the 2008 NZ Bar of the Year Award (third year in a row). Shortlisted for the Top 50 restaurants in the 2012 Cuisine Best Restaurant Award.

Open every day from 3pm, with the knives out from then to late, serving extraordinary sharing plates as well as boldly imaginative bowls and small plates for grazing into the small hours.
