Located at the western edge of Dayi county, Xiling Snow Mountain scenic area used to be an uninhabited area. Boasting a total area of 282.8 square kilometers, it is bounded on the southwest by Lushan county of Ya'an and on the northwest by Baoxingcounty of Ya'an and Aba of Wenchuan county.

At an elevation of about 5,364 meters above sea level, Daxue Tang, the highest part of this region, is known as the first peak in Chengdu. Its lowest elevation is 1,000 meters above sea level, with a relative elevation of 4,364 meters.

The scenic area includes Hengshan Hill, Tangwangba Ridge, Xiling town, Xiaohezi, Tianche Slope, Tieshagang Ridge, Liusha grass and the west area.

At present, the heartland of this area covers an area of 109 square kilometers, including Huashi Stream, Feishuixi Basin and Yuanyang Pond. In 1994, it was rated as a national key scenic spot.
