Shijing Temple is situated in Shijing village, Longquan district, Chengdu, in Southwest China's Sichuan province.

The temple was initially built in the late Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25-220), which was a temple for government officials’ families. After it was taken over by Zhao Yun, a famous general of the Three Kingdoms (AD 220-280), he donated it to be a public temple called Lingyin.

During the Zhengtong reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), there was a Chushan Chan master who criticized other masters’anti-Buddhist theory of Zhu Xi's school, which was widely known by the court and people. He was known as Jingbi Chan Master.

After he returned back to Sichuan, the temple was renamed Tiancheng. It was later renamed Shijing ("stone classics") for housing stone inscription, the Diamond Sutra.

After Chu master passed away, it was said that his body was preserved for 100 years. Shijing Temple has been famous ever since.

In 1981, Shijing Temple was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit by the Chengdu municipal government.
