Wangjiang Park is located on the south shore of the Jiuyanqiao Jin Jiang River. It is a famous scenic spot in Chengdu. The predecessor of Wangjiang Park includes Chongli Pavilion, Zhuojin building, Huanjian booth, Wuyunxian Pavilion, Liubei pool and Quanxiang Pavilion.
They were built one after another to commemorate Xue Tao. She was a poet in the Tang Dynasty. Wangjiang Park dates back to the Republic of China (1911-1949). The most magnificent building of Wangjiang Park is Chongli Pavilion, which is 39 meters high. Its name comes from one sentence in Shu Du Fu written by Zuo Taichong in the Jin Dynasty.
As the Chongli pavilion stands upright on the side of the Jin Jiang River, the Chongli pavilion is called river-viewing pavilion in folk, literally pronounced Wangjiang Pavilion.
