As one of 142 key temples of Chinese Buddhism, the Jile Temple is a religious attraction in Harbin. It is also the center of Harbin’s and Heilongjiang province’s association of Buddhism.

The construction project began in 1923 and was completed on Sept 29, 1924. It is well known among a group of countries and regions, such as Japan, South Korea, the US, and Southeast Asia.

It covers an area of 57,000 square meters. In 1995, an Arhat Hall and a place for prayer were built, these being the first construction of this kind in Northeast China.

All the statues in the temple are made of camphor wood except the ones of Heavenly Kings, which are made of clay.
