St Nicholas Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox church with a very traditional background of relics and icons. Built in 1909, it has a very impressive structure with ornate gold domes. The Cathedral was closed for a few years and used as a stable for Bolshevik cavalry and later by the Soviet regime. The cathedral was re-opened in about 1980, and services have continued since.
