In July 2011, the old bus network on Malta which was operated by a variety of elderly buses, was swept away and replaced by a new network of services operated by modern air conditioned vehicles operated by the "Arriva" bus company.
For further details of the new bus services, including a summary of bus services from Vallettta, please see the main Trip Advisor "Public Transport in Malta" page.
The Gozo ferry is a regular ferry with a 30 minute crossing time between the main Malta island and that of Gozo, a popular tourist destination.
The ferry has on board a small shop, cafe and is basically a roll on roll off car ferry which is a quick and easy way to island hop, especially during the summer months.
Finally, there is the taxi. Fixed fee vouchers can be bought from the airport and a typical airport to St Julians bay drive is about 20 eur. Always ask how much for the journey as meters ar not always reset after the previous journey.
Booking is by phone from any hotel or restaurant or in person in the bus station square.
