On breezy Houston days it's hard to beat a seat at Capitol Bar Midtown. The open-air patio bar opened in March 2013, offering locals expansive outdoor seating, live music, games and a steady stream of food truck fare.

Set along the METRORail, Capitol Bar unfolds in a mix of indoor and outdoor settings. Inside, flatscreen TVs broadcast the latest game, much to the delight of the young professionals watching intently from the wrap-around bar. Outside, umbrella-topped patio tables fill Capitol Bar's expansive patio, along with cabana-style banquettes, corn hole boards and a rotating mix of food trucks that call the bar home. In one corner, a stage makes room for live music performances from rising-star local acts.
