This is a Korean traditional market held between 5 days intervals in Songjeong-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. This interval market opens on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, and 28 thday of every month. The origin was the Seonam market in the Seonam dock of Hwangnyonggang river which links Naju with Jangseong.

When Songjeong Station started in 1913, the market site of several hundred years moved to the vicinity of Songjeong Station and became the Songjeong Market. From the old days, the trade of agricultural products was active, and one time here was the central commercial area in the southwest of Jeollanam-do. It was famous as a straw bag market under the Japanese colony and a cattle market till 1990s. This market is located at the crossroad of Yeonggwang entrance in Songjeong-dong, and there the permanent market and traditional 5 day market open in side by side.
