The Water of Leith is accessible for almost its entire length as it meanders its way through the Capital.Although bait and spinning are permitted, it is only on the lower reaches, as from Colinton village and above, it is strictly fly only.

Permits for Harlaw reservoir are available from the post office Main St Balerno (£10)(Rainbow Trout)

Fishing Tackle and Permits for most local rivers including the Tweed where you can fish at a reasonable price for salmon, are available at Country Life, Balgreen Road Edinburgh .

Football

Football is important in Edinburgh with rival teams, On the west side of the city are the romantically named Heart of Midlothian, named after the famous novel by Sir Walter Scott another world renowned son of Edinburgh .Hearts as they are more commonly known, are the current Scottish Cup Champions and finished 2nd in 2005/6 in the Premier League.

In the East of the City Hibernian Football club have there home. Tickets for matches are available from both clubs websites and there is a great atmosphere in both stadiums.
