In Lisboa, the fresh air, beauty of the landscape, temperate climate and local friendliness come together in harmony.

Scattered all over town, there are many esplanades where one can talk, study, make out or simply do nothing.

Come and discover these peaceful meeting points Lisboa has been built on seven hills, and on each one of them there are places to discover. Some bigger than others, others in the open or carefully hidden away. But always pleasant to wile away a few hours. Especially in the summer, when the hot Lisboa sun and the deep blue sky greet those passing by.

Lisboa’s cafes and esplanades have an old tale to tell. They say the Portuguese are good talkers and this is even more so in Lisboa. Maybe that is why, in this city, going to a café means much more than drinking a short strong coffee: it is a cult, a ritual and most of all a pleasure.

We will start exploring one of the most beautiful areas of Lisboa, where the view is striking: Graça. There we find the Esplanada da Graça. It is just above the Miradouro da Graça, the Graça viewpoint, under century-old pine trees.

Sitting at the esplanade on a hot summer day, with a drink in front of us, we cannot help but look around us: the Castle to our left looking over Lisboa down to the Mar da Palha. The café opens at 10 a.m. and so remains until the end of the night in summer. In this old part of Lisboa, the miradouros allow us to appreciate the natural and architectural beauty of the city.

Make good use of them – at all of them there are kiosks and esplanades, where one can eat something typical Portuguese and refreshing ourselves with something desirable.

Close by, in Alfama, stop at one of the oldest and most known esplanades in Lisboa, called Cerca Moura. Located at Largo Portas do Sol, it opens at 4.00 p.m and closes at 2 a.m. in the morning, when nightlife calls us. Many youths stop by before carrying on into the night. The view is fabulous, as expected: the scintillating river, trams going by, the disorderly houses and pigeons that insist on living there.
