Thessaloniki is very well organised for travellers, and it offers a strong bus network and excellent taxi services. Most of its major attractions lie in the city centre not too far away from each other, so you can go walking to explore many of its sights and beauties.

Buses

Taxi

A more expensive way to travel in Thessaloniki is by taxi. Taxis service is daily 24 hour and numerous taxis can be found in several locations in the city. Thessaloniki’s taxis are blue and all of them are equipped with cost meters. The price will increase in the following cases: 1) travel at night 2) carry heavy language 3) use of the ring road 4) journey to or from the airport.

Taxi facts:

Many people forget their things when they go by taxi.

Car

If you decide to visit Thessaloniki by car or you wish to rent one, the following information might be useful. The city center is hardly ever empty so according to the hour of the day you might have traffic difficulties. Free parking can be found downtown but the open places are limited so you can turn to metered parking in various locations like Eletherias Square or Aristotelous Square. When city centre is jammed, private parking in the city centre might be an option.
