Xi'an is served by Xianyang Airport, which is located around 35 kilometers northwest of the city center, about one hour's drive. As it is the fourth largest airport in China, there are several daily flights linking Xi'an to the major tourist stops such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Urumuqi. There are also a few flights to Lhasa and international flights to Hong Kong, Macao and Japan.
Xi'an Xianyang Airport is located on the outskirts of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, and was opened in 1991. The rapid growth in air traffic in Northwest China has entailed further investment in airports like Xi'an's. Xi'an Xianyang Airport is seeing its airport terminal buildings expand, new boarding bridges, air conditioning and other new equipment to improve the terminal environment.Visitors can take a taxi to the airport for about 80 yuan/10 USD.
