Dalian International Airport covers a land area of 284.46 hectares. It has 3,300 meters of runway, 3,168m of taxiway, 65,000 square meters of terminal buildings, 240,000 square meters of parking aprons and 25 gate positions to reach the 4E grade I-class standard of an international airport, in which a variety of large planes can take off and land.

Dalian International Airport is one of the top four airports in Northeast China and one of the most important airports in the north and south of Liaoning province. The region has promoted development based on its airport advantage and attracted 33 airline companies at home and abroad to operate in Dalian Airport. A total of 130 flight courses have been opened, including 84 domestic flight courses and 46 international and Special Administrative Regions flight courses, connecting with 15 countries and 39 foreign cities. Its transportation network covers the country, radiating to Japan, Korea and Russia as well as connecting with Europe, America, Australia and Asia.

Dalian International Airport has held the top spot among the 12 civil airports of Northeast China in three indexes, including passenger volume, freight and post volume, and flight times of take off and landing for 10 years continuously since 1998. In 2007, it finished with a volume of 7.28 million passengers, 122,000 tons freight and post, and 63,000 flights for take off and landing, ranking 16, 13 and 18, respectively, among 133 civil aviation airports in China.
