Facial makeup is a miniature artwork in Peking Opera. To make such facial makeup figurines, the craftsmen usually select some well-known characters in this opera at first, and then use the traditional ways of painting to make different kinds of figurines. The entire process is finished by hands and such artworks are worth appreciating and collecting.

The process:

First: Making the general model, including appearance design, model making, detailed work and more.

Second: Makeup drawing: According to the four stage roles (Sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou), the craftsmen should use different kinds of drawing methods. In general, there are 8 processes in drawing. Among them Dan can only be finished through 12 processes after using 5 different kinds of pigments and 4 kinds of burdening.

Third: Making costumes. According to the integral decoration of each stage character, their costumes styles can be divided into different kinds. The craftsmen will make their costumes according to their integral figure styles.

Fourth: Assembling. Put together the makeup of the characters and the costumes.
