Kao Rou Ji is a time-honored Beijing restaurant which sells the roast meat. Muslim Food plays an important role in Beijing Food and welcome by the residence here.

In the north end of Beiiing's Shichahai, there is a small stone bridge with a long history and a famous name: the Yinding Bridge or "Silver Ingot Bridge". Kao Rou Ji, with its immense reputation, began here beside this small bridge. This ancient establishment has over 340 years of history. Amidst Shichahai's enchanting scenery, eating Kaorouji's uniquely flavored barbecued meat will undoubtedly make for an unforgettable meal. Smoke rises from the chafing dishes and swirls around the dining area, as raging fires burn, and a tantalizing sizzling sound coming from the barbecued meat, its sweet smell greeting the nose. You can usually be seen with one foot on a wooden bench, a wine cup or sesame paste in their left hand, and avoiding smoke and fire, your right hand grips a pair of foot long chopsticks, cooking as you eat.

Originating from the Mongolian dietary customs, the barbecue is also referred to as "Mongolian Barbecue". Chefs would barbecue the meat and hand it out for crowds to sample. This tradition was adopted by the masses and was carried to the present, providing the influence that shapes Kao Rou Ji cooking and their creativity.
