For centuries the Algonquin nation gathered, celebrated, and traded on Victoria Island. Sitting between the Chaudière and Portage bridges in the Ottawa River, the small island is considered to be traditional territory by Aboriginal Peoples, who use the space to educate and enlighten.
Aboriginal Experiences take visitors on a journey back into history, exposing them to First Peoples from across North America — their food, art, and culture. Taste traditional foods such as bison and venison at the Aboriginal café, experience authentic dance performances, and gain a greater understanding of their ways of life at the Trading Post. Currently open only to group bookings, May through October.
