Yueshan baji quan enjoys equal popularity with shaolin quan and tai chi chuan. It is representative of masculine Chinese traditional martial arts and was created by the abbot of Yueshan Temple, Monk Changgong. This 800-year old martial art is straight-forward and simple, strong and fierce, totally different from slow and calm tai chi chuan, though they are equally popular.
Yueshan baji quan was listed on the second batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage on June 14, 2008.
