The city of Jiaozuo, Henan province, is home to the four famous Chinese Yams, namely the Huai Chinese Yam, Huai Rehmannia, Achyranthes Bidentata, and Huai Chrysanthemum. Li Shizhen, a famous medical scientist of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), had said that the four famous Chinese Yams in Jiaozuo should rank the top among all of the Chinese Yam species.

The Chinese Yam is a kind of superior nutraceutical, with functions of replenishing blood, nourishing the stomach, tonifying the kidneys and removing coldness in the body.
