Located in the middle of the Changshan Islands, Dachangshan Island is the seat of the Changhai government, and the political, economic and cultural center of the county. Dachangshan Island Town consists of 28 territorial islands, including Dachangshan Island, Saili Island and Haxian Island, as well as some reefs. The town covers a land area of 31.79 square kilometers and a sea area of 651.5 square kilometers. It has a coastline of 94.4 kilometers.
Dachangshan Island got its name for being long and mountainous. It has a winding coastline and countless gulfs, as well as a host of natural and cultural landscapes. In recent years, with urbanization, the town has been changing with each passing day. Wide roads, beautiful sea gardens, and the combination of Chinese and Western architecture lend charm to this town.
The major tourist attractions on the island are Qixiang Garden, Sanyuan Palace, the Beach of North Sea and Shangma Rock. Leisure activities, such as clamming and fishing, are popular among tourists. Plentiful delicious seafood is also available.
Located in Sanguanmiao village, Dachangshan Island, Sanyuan Palace was built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Later, it was destroyed. After reconstruction, it has become the largest Taoist temple in southern Liaoning province. At 6 am every morning, you can hear a low and powerful bell coming from the bell tower of Sanyuan Palace. In Sanyuan Palace, you can not only embrace profound traditional Chinese culture, but also get a bird’s-eye view of the island and the sea.
