The Jinshitan national scenic spot, situated on the northeastern tip of Northeast China’s Liaodong Peninsula, is nicknamed the “Backyard Garden” of Dalian, which is part of “China’s Best Tourist Cities” list.
Jinshitan was named a national-level scenic area in 1988 and was later authorized to be a national resort by the State Council in October 1992. In 2000, it was among the first attractions to be named a national 4A scenic area and had completed ISO9001 and ISO14001 audits, demonstrating its continued commitment to quality and environmental management. Jinshitan was named a national geo-park in 2005 and was finally recognized as a national 5A-class scenic spot, the top ranking among China’s tourist attraction rating system.
The scenic spot, which is 50 kilometers away from downtown Dalian, covers a land area of 62 square kilometers and a sea area of 58 square kilometers, including the eastern peninsula, the western peninsula, the vast heartland between the two peninsulas as well as the bathing beach. Bordered by water on three sides, Jinshitan is a holiday resort of choice in Northern China due to its mild climate in both winter and summer.
