The Guilin Seven Star Scenic Area is located at the east bank of the Lijiang River in the center of Guilin and occupies an area of 137.4 hectares. The name ‘Seven Star’ is given to the area due to its distribution of seven peaks which resemble the shape of the celestial constellation, the Big Dipper.

The scenic area represents leisure, romance and passion; the three features of Guilin. Perhaps the biggest landmark of Guilin is the Seven Star Cave, which is a recommended scenic spot by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), as well as a national key scenic spot and one of the first places to be awarded the AAAA Chinese tourist attraction rating.

From the Jiefang Bridge, the seven peaks in the east are divided into two groups: four on the left and three on the right. Coincidentally, the position of the seven peaks corresponds to that of the Big Dipper, with the saying, “there’s the Big Dipper in the sky, and there is the Seven Star Cave on the earth.”

Characterized by karst landforms, the Seven Star Cave scenic area has many famous tourist spots, such as the “Big Dipper”, “Rainbow over the Flowery Bridge”, and “Rosy Clouds on Pot Mountain”, etc.
