Embassies and consulates

From A for Afghanistan to Z for Zimbabwe, from the smallest state in the world (the Vatican City in Rome) to the largest country on Earth (Russia): more than 130 diplomatic missions represent their home countries in Berlin and can help you with questions or problems.

The often impressive embassy buildings and consulates are concentrated in a so-called “Embassy Quarter” on the Tiergarten, on the Unter den Linden and around the Brandenburg Gate. Many smaller nations, for whom land in the western part of the city was too expensive, have located in the former GDR embassy quarter on the border between Prenzlauer Berg and Pankow.

The overwhelmingly modern architecture of the diplomatic buildings provides photographic subjects for millions of tourists every year and also offers somewhere to go for a relaxed stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the usual sights.

Our tip: the ”All Nations Festival” as an “Embassies Open Day” gives a peek behind the magnificent facades once a year.
