For over 160 years now, the Friedrichshain park has been a popular retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is Berlin's oldest municipal park. The 78 and 48 metre high green “bunker” mountains are popularly known as "Mont Klamott" and provide a wonderful view of Berlin.
Especially in the summer the expanded park grounds are mainly used by grill experts, sun-worshipers and trendy inhabitants of the Berlin scene. This mixture makes the Volkspark Friedrichhain one of the most hip places to be in high summer. To go there, to lie down- to see and to be seen. Also slackliners, amateur and professional volleyball players are guaranteed to have fun here.
