Cascina Caldera

Cascina Caldera is one of the few farms still using spring water from one of the “fontanili” that is a characteristic of the Po valley plain. This water is used for irrigation, and for various other purposes connected to agriculture and livestock.

The farm dates back to the 16th century. It has a small riding school and stables, a pig breeding unit, and poultry. It runs activities for school groups.

The farm is inside the Parco delle Cave, which is the city’s second largest park, with a gravel quarry that is still operating, along with public parkland in which agricultural customs and traditions are still maintained.
