Expo Milano 2015 Participates in the 2nd International Conference on Nutrition Promoted
Expo Milano 2015 will attend the Second International Conference on Nutrition, the intergovernmental conference on the fight against hunger organized by FAO e WHO. The event will be held November 19 to 21 at the FAO headquarters in Rome and will be attended by Ministers and High Representatives from all countries belonging to the two the United Nations organizations. The meeting will take stock of the achievements and future goals of the global commitment on the right to food. In particular, it will resume the commitments to other important international events such as the first International Conference on Nutrition (1992), the two World Food Summits (1996, 2002) and the World Summit on Food Security (2009) and will be project into the future a base of programs from WHO such as the 2025 Global Nutrition Targets and The Global Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Disease 2013-2020.
Zero Hunger Challenge, the campaign of the United Nations at Expo
The United Nations will be an Official Participant of the Universal Expostion and throughout its duration it will carry out the Zero Hunger Challenge, a campaign of information and awareness on policies to counteract hunger and malnutrition. The program will be officially presented at a side event on Thursday, November 20, at the second International Conference on Nutrition, which will unveiled a preview of the prototype of the installation that characterize the presence of the United Nations at Expo Milano 2015: A giant blue spoon . Speakers: José Graziano da Silva (Director General of FAO), Eduardo Rojas (Commissioner General of the United Nations Expo 2015), Maurizio Martina (Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry), Roberto Arditti (Director of Corporate Affairs Expo S.p.A), and ministers and representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela ; moderator of the event will Marcela Villarreal.
