General Council Opens Fondazione Triulza – Civil Society is Ready for the Expo

Today in Milan, the General Council opened Fondazione Triulza, the network of third sector organizations that manages the Cascina Triulza at Expo Milano 2015. Taking part together with Sergio Silvotti (President of Fondazione Triulza), was Maurizio Martina (Minister of Agriculture and Forestry), Giuseppe Guzzetti (President of Fondazione Cariplo), Giuliano Pisapia (Mayor of Milan), Raffaele Cattaneo (President of the Regional Council of Lombardy) and Fabrizio Sala (Regional Councillor with responsibility for Expo 2015).

Launch of the “Cantiere delle Idee” (Workshop of Ideas) for post Universal Exhibition

The meeting was an opportunity to assess the last two years of intense activity that led to the creation of the Civil Society Pavilion of Expo, as well as to launch the “Cantiere delle Idee” (Workshop of Ideas) for post Universal Exhibition, in which the Civil Society participants intend to make concrete and measurable commitments. "We want to leave Expo Milano 2015 with an agenda of concrete actions on specific topics. Twelve have been identified, including food sovereignty, developing a local agriculture that is resilient, the role of business and finance in ensuring the right to food, and the role of women in agriculture and food, to name a few”, said Sergio Silvotti, President of Fondazione Triulza. “It will be a great and timely contribution in addition to what we are already contributing with Charter of Milan".

Cascina Triulza is ready for the Expo

Cascina Triulza is ready for the opening of Expo Milano 2015. It’s a goal achieved thanks to the strength of the relationships fostered by more than 60 entities that make up Fondazione Triulza, which, moreover, closed with a balanced budget. During the six months of the Universal Exhibition over 80 organizations will organize at least 750 events. The cultural program alongside the Cascina Triulza Market will welcome about 200 local and international producers. The program will be enriched by emerging artists, designers, researchers and young people from the civil service.

"For the first time in the history of Universal Expositions, civil society and the voluntary sector will take center stage”, states Maurizio Martina, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry with delegation for Expo Milano 2015. “This is also a first for the Milan Expo that we claim with pride and awareness. The work carried out in these two years is a model of participatory planning that will bear fruit even after the six-month run of the exhibition.
