Oct 8: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 16 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 477 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,951 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,751 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 200 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 7, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,500 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,666 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 200 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 838,333 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,712 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 7, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 7, 366 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 364 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 7, 5,712 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,143 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,885 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 523 in Taiwan (7 had died and 486 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
