WTCF is Specially Invited to Attend the 2020 World Culture and Tourism Forum

From September 27th to September 29th, the 2020 World Culture and Tourism Forum was held in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province. The Forum lasted for 3 days and was co-hosted by Xi’an People’s Government and Trip.com Group Limited. It was themed on “Reinvigorating Culture and Tourism, Promoting an Innovative Transformation” and included the opening ceremony, the introduction and promotion of all-rounded culture and tourism, keynote speeches, and closed-door seminars. More than 500 professionals were present, including international organization delegates, foreign ambassadors to China, renowned experts and scholars, representatives of tourism enterprises at home and abroad, as well as persons in charge of culture and tourism departments in various localities. The attendees held in-depth discussions on the rehabilitation and transformation of the industry in the post-epidemic era as well as what to expect for inbound, domestic and smart tourism factions. Other areas of attention highlighted the future under the new normal of internationalization, seeking to grasp new opportunities, new trends and new forms of culture and tourism.

Being a specially invited partner, WTCF attended the Forum for the third time. Li Baochun, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of WTCF, praised the city of Xi’an for its development in tourism during his speech and believed that the Forum is a key event for the industry after the pandemic. He emphasized that the WTCF will foster a comprehensive cooperation with Xi’an City, Trip.com Group Limited and other member units to enhance the recovery and development of the world culture and tourism industry. Guests invited to the opening ceremony included Li Mingyuan, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Xi’an, Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group Limited, and Zhang Haizhou, SCO Deputy Secretary-General.

He Shengkang, Counselor of WTCF Secretariat, was an important guest and attended the closed-door seminar on “The Recovery and Reinvigoration of the Culture and Tourism Industry in Xi’an under the New Normal”. He offered helpful insight into the status quo and developmental trends of culture and tourism industry in Xi’an in the post-pandemic era.
