WTCF Tourism Experts visit to Tbilisi

【Introduction】:In December 2019, WTCF tourism experts with a wide range of knowledge and experience in destination development, tour operator business and media and communication, visited Tbilisi, capital of Georgia.

In December 2019, WTCF tourism experts with a wide range of knowledge and experience in destination development, tour operator business and media and communication, visited Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. The official visit of Mr. He Shengkang, Counsellor of WTCF, Mr. Tian Li, culture and travel producer, chief editor at iQIYI and Ms. Lulu Zhang, Director and senior editor of Sina Travel Industry Content Operation was organized by Tbilisi Municipality City Hall. The main objective of the visit was to extend bilateral cooperation between WTCF and Tbilisi City Hall, to define leading priorities of the city for the Chinese tourism market and to foster a farther sustainable relationship between China and Georgia.

During the visit, WTCF experts explored diverse tourism products of Tbilisi, its cultural heritage, eclectic architecture and superb gastronomic opportunities. Experts had an official meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, where they shared their own visions and ideas about increasing the tourism potential of the capital city. They also mentioned that Tbilisi, as one of the ancient and vivid cities of the world, is gradually gaining its reputation as one of the most visited destinations for all seasons.

Within the work of the visit, the workshop between WTCF experts and Georgian tour operators was organized. WTCF representatives presented their recommendations on how to work on the Chinese-speaking segment and what main factors need to be considered in order to strengthen mutual fruitful relationships between Chinese and Georgian tourism markets.

It’s noteworthy to mention that this was the first mutual collaboration between WTCF and Tbilisi City Hall. Since the visit was a great success in Tbilisi, more events of this kind are planned in the near future to reinforce bilateral fruitful relationships between Georgia and China.
