Moscow became a leader in two nominations of the international World Travel Awards 2021. The capital is recognized as the best destination for a city break (World's Leading City Break Destination 2021) and the best tourist destination for studying historical heritage – 2021 (World's Leading Heritage City Destination 2021).

Italy Tightens COVID-19 Measures and Extends State of Emergency Until Spring 2022

The Italian government has agreed to extend its state of emergency until 31 March, meaning that certain COVID-19 mitigation measures will remain in place until then, though not all. Under new measures announced on Christmas Eve, it will be necessary for people to wear masks outdoors until 31 January, but the more protective FFP2 (or N95) masks will be required in indoor areas like museums, theaters, sports arenas and on public transport.
