The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Construction and International Capacity Cooperation Symposium will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province on September 7, one day prior to the formal session of the China International Fair for Investment & Trade.
Former political dignitaries and leaders of national think tanks from nations along the Maritime Silk Road will attend the symposium, along with representatives from Fortune Global 500 companies and well-known Chinese figures in various areas.
Hot topics and challenges encountered in the process of building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road will be addressed at the symposium, sponsored by the Silk Road Think Tank Association.
Topics discussed at the symposium will include industrial cooperation and cultural exchanges to build mutual trust and achieve practical economic results among the nations along the Maritime Silk Road. This is the goal of the China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) – the organization that initiated the Silk Road Think Tank Association.
Xu Yongquan, deputy director of CCCWS, met with Wang Qiongwen, director of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, to talk about preparatory works for the symposium alongside officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian and Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Xiamen.
According to Xu, “learning from each other, working together and winning together” will be the theme of the symposium. Organizers expect to build the “Silk Road dialogue” into a brand event for information sharing and brainstorming.
Wang said that connectivity among Belt and Road nations and international capacity cooperation will be at the heart of the 2016 China International Fair for Investment & Trade.
