Tour around Hamburg (Part 2)

Duvenstedter Brook Nature Reserve

In the fall starting from September, there is one highlight that must not be missed in northern Germany: baby deer in Duvenstedter Brook Nature Reserve. When you walk in the nature reserve, there may also be foxes and cranes passing in front of you. Add this charming wetland with a wide range of flora and fauna to your travel plan! Information about exhibitions, tours and others are available at Duvenstedter BrookHus.

Boberger Niederung Nature Reserve

Boberger Niederung Nature Reserve presents a completely different landscape. When people stand on the inland dunes of Hamburg, it is as if they are visiting the North Sea of Hamburg - except that the sound of the waves cannot be heard. In addition, Boberger Niederung Nature Reserve contains heather wasteland, tidal marshes, swamps and a lake area for swimming. Walking here is like walking in a world of wonderland completely different from reality.

Die Vier- und Marschlande

Surrounded by reeds, riparian forests, green grass, old-fashioned wooden houses, flowers, baroque churches and lakes, Die Vier- und Marschlande in the south-eastern part of Hamburg makes people feel refreshed. To the north of the area is Holzhafen Nature Reserve and Boberger Niederung Nature Reserve. If you are lucky, you can also see white-tailed sea eagles.

Wälderhaus

From the outside, Wälderhaus at the entrance to Wilhelmsburger Inselpark is definitely a must-see: this building is made entirely of solid wood. A wall of larch wood is covered with plant vines, and birds and insects also settle here. The house is managed German forest protection association (Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald), which has a science center that tells people how important forests are to humans, so as to raise awareness of the environment and sustainable lifestyles among tourists. Wälderhaus also has a hotel, Williams restaurant, and a sustainable meeting room for the forest forums.
