Sept 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 7 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 583 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,765 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,598 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 167 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,314 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,513 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 167 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 828,788 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,865 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 3 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 402 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (all were imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 5,604 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,049 in Hong Kong (104 had died and 4,749 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 509 in Taiwan (7 had died and 480 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
