【Introduction】:607 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 6.

On April 23, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 6 new cases of confirmed infections (2 imported cases and 4 indigenous cases, 3 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Guangdong province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both are imported cases in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 50 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 607 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 6.

As of 24:00 on April 23, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,618 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 849 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 769 confirmed cases (including 32 in serious condition) and 17 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,804 confirmed cases and 4,632 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,257 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 915 confirmed cases (including 57 in serious condition) and 20 suspected cases. So far, 728,590 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,362 are now under medical observation.

On April 23, Hubei province reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 22 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.

As of 24:00 on April 23, Hubei had reported 68,128 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,333 in Wuhan) and 4,512 deaths (including 3,869 in Wuhan). In all, 63,569 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 46,417 in Wuhan. There still remained 47 confirmed cases (all in Wuhan), with 1 (in Wuhan) in serious condition. There were no suspected cases.

On April 23, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 34 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 36 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and 3 became confirmed cases (all are indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on April 23, 979 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 157 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 23, 1,507 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,035 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 699 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (27 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 427 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 253 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
