Oct 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Shanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 16 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,127 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,123 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,887 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 236 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,685 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,802 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 249 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 845,945 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,851 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 401 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 400 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 18, 5,822 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,241 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,973 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 535 in Taiwan (7 had died and 491 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
