Oct 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 47 new cases of confirmed infections (24 imported cases, 8 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 23 indigenous cases, all in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 546 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,308 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,022 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 286 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,915 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,943 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 338 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 855,855 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,296 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 24 cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 543 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 404 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 28, 5,906 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,310 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,063 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 550 in Taiwan (7 had died and 508 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
